Nearly all of our LASIK and cataract patients come from Dallas/Fort Worth. But occasionally they come from farther away. One patient in particular recently traveled from Lake Tahoe, CA for his LASIK procedure by placing the winning bid at an auction benefiting a great cause.

Eye Consultants of Texas has remained a strong supporter of the Red Circle Foundation (RCF) which provides assistance to families of U.S. Special Operations Forces. For the past two years RCF has held a fundraising Gala in La Jolla, CA featuring a live and silent auction. For the second year in a row we were proud to donate one LASIK procedure, including round trip airfare and hotel accommodations.

This year’s winning bid was placed by Nick Cahill from Lake Tahoe. Coincidentally Nick is a videographer who works with RCF founder Brandon Webb, a retired U.S. Navy SEAL and best-selling author who recently spoke at our Grapevine office.

Nick’s LASIK procedure was performed by Phillips Kirk Labor, MD on Friday, November 21 in our LASIK suite. We’re happy to report the surgery was a success. After a post-operative exam the next day, Nick was headed back home seeing better and feeling great.

Eye Consultants of Texas is one of several RCF Mission Partners dedicated to ensuring that 100% of all donations go directly to needy families of special operators. And this year’s Gala was no exception. To learn more about the Red Circle Foundation, or to donate, visit www.redcirclefoundation.org.
